Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a waitlist?

We offer flexible online booking for all assessments, allowing you to schedule your appointment up to three months in advance. If no immediate slots are available, you may have the option to join a waitlist—we will notify you as soon as a cancellation opens up.

Our goal is to ensure timely access to assessments, and we typically aim to schedule your first appointment within 30 days of purchase—sometimes even sooner, depending on availability.

Many neurodevelopmental services in the UK have waitlists of up to two years, delaying diagnosis and access to essential support. We believe that early assessment leads to better outcomes, improving overall well-being, self-understanding, and access to resources.

Timely assessment is critical for improving prognosis, quality of life, and accessing additional resources.

What is the difference between online and in-person assessments?

With years of experience in both private practice and the NHS, we recognise the challenges of attending an in-person clinic, particularly for children and young people. Traditional clinical environments can be overstimulating, unfamiliar, or anxiety-inducing, making it difficult to get an accurate picture of their strengths and difficulties.

For the assessments we provide, numerous studies have shown that online assessments yield comparable outcomes to in-person evaluations. Our online assessments maintain the same rigorous clinical standards as those conducted in hospitals or clinics.

We gather comprehensive information from multiple sources to ensure a thorough and reliable evaluation. The key difference is convenience—by conducting assessments online, you can speak with a qualified professional from the comfort and privacy of your home, making the process more accessible, flexible, and person-centred.

How do I prepare for an assessment?

Preparing for your assessment can help ensure the most accurate and helpful outcome. Here are a few steps to consider before your appointment:

1. Gather Relevant Information
We take a comprehensive approach to assessments, meaning we consider information from multiple sources.

You may be asked to provide:

Childhood history (if applicable) – early developmental milestones, school reports, or past assessments.
Medical and mental health history – any previous diagnoses, treatments, or medications.
School or workplace reports – feedback from teachers, employers, or other professionals can be valuable.
Family input – if a family member has observations they’d like to share, this can help build a fuller clinical picture.

2. Complete Any Pre-Assessment Questionnaires
Before your appointment, we may send screening forms or questionnaires to help guide the assessment process. Completing these in advance ensures we have all the necessary details at the start.

3. Choose a Quiet and Comfortable Space
Since the assessment is conducted online, ensure you’re in a private, quiet setting where you feel comfortable speaking openly. If possible, use headphones and a stable internet connection to minimise distractions.

4. Reflect on Your Experiences
It can be helpful to think about your symptoms, challenges, and strengths ahead of time. Consider how they have affected different areas of your life—school, work, relationships, and daily routines.

5. Bring Any Questions
Assessments can sometimes feel overwhelming, and it’s natural to have questions. We encourage you to write down anything you’d like to ask, whether it’s about the diagnostic process, potential next steps, or available support.

By taking these steps, you’ll be well-prepared for a thorough, insightful, and effective assessment that provides you with the clarity and support you need.

Our clinic will send out a series of forms for you to fill out and sign and have your informants fill out at the time of booking your appointment.

How long do assessments take?

The length of an assessment varies depending on the condition being evaluated and individual needs. Generally, assessments involve multiple stages, including an initial clinical interview, gathering information from relevant sources, and completing structured diagnostic assessments where needed.

For neurodevelopmental conditions like ADHD and ASD, the process includes input from family members, teachers, or other key individuals to build a comprehensive clinical picture. Mental health assessments typically focus on understanding current difficulties, history, and relevant psychological factors.

We aim to complete assessments as efficiently as possible while maintaining a thorough and high-quality approach. If you require a faster turnaround, please contact us to discuss available options.

Do you offer treatment options following an assessment?

Yes, we offer treatment options following an assessment, which may include therapy, parenting support, or medication (if applicable).

If you’ve completed an assessment at our clinic, we also provide discounted rates for treatment to help you continue your journey towards improvement.

For medication, any treatment will be recommended and managed by our associate medical professionals, based on a comprehensive evaluation of your needs.

How much does an assessment cost?

Our fees page provides a detailed breakdown of the costs for all assessments and treatment options available at our clinic.

If you initially purchase an assessment for one condition (e.g., ADHD) and during the process, it becomes clear that an additional assessment (e.g., ADHD + ASD) may be beneficial, we will apply a discounted rate as if you had selected the combined package from the outset.

If you have any questions about pricing, payment plans, or which assessment might be right for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at hello@neurodevelopmental.co.uk. We’re happy to help!

Can I do more than one assessment?

Absolutely! Whether you choose to assess for multiple conditions from the outset or decide to explore an additional presentation later, we offer discounted rates for combined assessments.

We take a clinically responsible approach, meaning we only recommend additional assessments if they are genuinely indicated. Our priority is to ensure that every assessment is meaningful and relevant to your needs. Before proceeding, we will discuss the pros and cons with you, ensuring that you have a clear understanding of the process.

During the initial appointment, we take a holistic view of neurodevelopmental and mental health challenges, considering the broader picture before making recommendations. If you have any questions about multiple assessments, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to guide you through the process!
